1-2-1 Computer Science + Python Programming Tuition

Two Tuition Programmes. One Expert Teacher.

1-2-1 online Python and Computer Science tuition delivered by an experienced Head of Computing – for student who want to build real skills or who need focussed expert support for GCSE (9-1) success.

Why Choose Our Tuition?

Private tutoring works best when it comes from someone who genuinely understands the subject, the exam, and how to get a student from where they are to where they need to be. Our tuition is delivered personally by a Head of Computing with over 10 years of experience across South London schools – someone who has built GCSE Computer Science results from the ground up, taking pass rates from 50% to 100% and helping the majority of students achieve a grade 7 or above.

Every session is 1-2-1, fully online, and tailored entirely to the individual student – their exam board, their current level, their target grade, and the specific areas where they need the most support.

Programme 1 - Python Programming Tuition

Year 9 students preparing for GCSE Computer Science - getting ahead and building strong foundations before they start the course.

Starting GCSE Computer Science next year? Strong programming skills make an enormous difference to confidence and results from day one of the course – and Year 9 is the perfect time to build that foundation before the pressure of coursework and exams begins.

This programme is designed for students who want to genuinely understand Python before they need to. Sessions focus entirely on practical programming – moving from core fundamentals through to the more advanced skills that GCSE Computer Science demands, including data structures, file handling, and problem-solving techniques. Unlike a typical coding camp, every session is shaped entirely around the individual student: their pace, their gaps, and their goals.

Students who arrive at the start of Year 10 already confident in Python spend far less time catching up on programming basics and far more time mastering exam technique and the theory side of the course – a real advantage heading into GCSEs.

What this programme covers:

Core Python fundamentals - variables, data types, selection, loops.

Functions, lists and file handling

Problem-solving and computational thinking

Writing clean, well-structured code

Building genuine confidence and independence as a programmer

GCSE-aligned: when used as GCSE Computer Science support, we work directly with the topics on the exam board syllabus your school is following.

Format:

1-2-1 fully online (Teams/Google Meet). Recommended for Year 9 students planning to take GCSE Computer Science.

Session length: typically 60 minutes per session. Price: £40 per hour

If I am unavailable for a particular session, I will arrange cover from one of my former students - a Computer Science undergraduate who achieved an A or A* in the subject, knows first-hand how students are assessed, and already has experience teaching Computer Science to younger students. We will always let you know in advance if this is the case.

Programme 2 - GCSE (9-1) Computer Science Tuition

Theory and Python Programming - for Year 10 and Year 11 students currently studying GCSE Computer Science

GCSE Computer Science is a demanding course – combined technical theory with practical programming skills, often within a single exam paper. Many students find the theory content (computer systems, networks, data representation, algorithms) jut as challenging as the programming itself, and the two need to be taught together to really make sense.

This programme provides complete, exam-focussed support across both halves of the course. Sessions are tailored entirely to the student’s exam board, current performance, and target grade – whether that means strengthening core programming skills, working through past paper questions, demystifying theory topics, or building exam technique under timed conditions.

Delivered personally by a Head of Computing with a proven track record – including moving GCSE pass rates from 50% to 100%, with the majority of students achieving a grade 7 or above – this programme is built around exactly what exam boards are looking for and exactly where students tend to lose marks.

What this programme covers:

Full GCSE specification coverage - both theory and programming.

Past paper practice and exam technique.

Targeted support on weaker topics, identified through diagnostic assessment.

Python programming skills aligned to the GCSE specification

Confidence-building ahead of mock and final exams.

Format:

1-2-1 fully online (Teams/Google Meet). Recommended for Year 10 and Year 11 students currently studying GCSE Computer Science.
